Shiatsu Japanese Massage
Shiatsu clears blockages, releases tension and helps to bring the person back into balance physically, mentally and emotionally. Shiatsu looks like a massage from the outside, but it is different in many ways. Physically, we can see it’s different, as clients keep their clothes on and lay on a futon (Japanese mattress) on the floor.
Shiatsu evolved in Japan but incorporates the knowledge from Chinese Medicine using yin/yang and five elements theory just as an acupuncturist does to restore healthy functioning of the body. Treatments include pressure, stretches and holding various points on the body.
- Shiatsu is a drug free alternative for any condition and awakens the body’s self healing ability.
- Shiatsu uses the healing power of touch. Touch gives people a sense of connection to themselves and others.
- Using a comforting slow rhythm, the parasympathetic response of the ANS (autonomic nervous system) is activated. This awakens a deeply relaxed state where healing can take place. Tension in the body is easily released in this state.
