Burraduc Farm – Riverine Buffalo
Our milking herd of Mediterranean buffaloes enjoying the freedom, water and playtime. We keep the calves together with their mothers during daytime so they can graze the lush pastures together and play in the dam. The mothers are trained to bring the calves into the shed every evening, leave them there for the night and go to a specially allocated nighttime grazing paddock with the best nutritious pasture for the best milk. In the morning mama buffaloes come back to be milked and collect their calves. Freshly harvested milk is used here on the farm to make traditional Italian cheeses (Mozzarella and Ricotta) as well as other artisan products i.e. yoghurt, feta, cottage cheese etc.
